Explore the Montgomery County Wine Trail

Did you know that Pennsylvania has over 270 wineries and produces 2.25 million gallons of wine every year?

The Philadelphia region has a temperate climate, gently rolling hills, and warm soil which make for ideal wine-producing conditions.

Several of the area's vintners established three wine trails in Philadelphia's countryside. They wander through historic and lush landscapes, and one of the highlights is the Montgomery County Wine Trail.

It features more than thirty wine varieties, and the wineries near our Conshohocken apartments include:

CARDINAL HOLLOW WINERY

When Chris Boyd traveled the country for work, he began drinking fine wines at upscale restaurants. This sparked his interest, and he started reading books on wine history and making during flights. Chris made his first wine in 1995, and before long, one gallon became 55 gallon barrels. Eventually, he opened the Cardinal Hollow Winery which produces over 25 different wines. The selection includes DeChaunac, Carolyn's Sweet Nectar, and Queen's Delight Mead.

STONE & KEY CELLARS

After supplying winemakers for more than 20 years, Jason and Deb Harris decided to open Stone & Key Cellars. It was named the best winery/taproom by Montco Happening in 2018, and the grapes are from the finest regions in California, Washington, and Chile. Wines include Chateau Harris, Orange Sangria, and Old Vine Zinfandel.

Visitors can also make their own wine. The cellar staff helps everyone decide what to make, and there are dozens of varietals to choose from. The fun includes crushing the grapes and learning the art of blending.

A'DELLO VINEYARD & WINERY

At A'Dello, the winemakers use a handcrafted secret recipe passed down for generations. The tasting room is open Friday through Sunday, with live music on the weekends. Cheese and crackers are available for purchase, and visitors can bring their own food. Wines include Riesling, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay Reserve.
