Where to Find the Best Bagels Around Conshohocken

Did you know that bagels are the only bread that is boiled before being baked? There are dozens of flavors, but plain is the most popular flavor with sesame a close second.

If you would like to enjoy a bagel, the best shops near our Conshohocken apartments include:

SOUTH STREET PHILLY BAGELS

South Street Philly Bagels opened its doors in 1996 during a major snowstorm. All of the bagels are made from scratch, and after being boiled, they bake on burlap-covered wooden boards. The bagels are always hot and regulars know to visit the shop early for the best selection. Choices include onion, cinnamon raisin, and jalapeno cheddar.

PHILLY STYLE BAGELS

At Philly Style, the bagels are crunchy on the inside and soft on the outside. The bakers are inspired by Philadelphia's beer culture, and they boil the bagels in a mixture of beer and water for a special malted flavor. The shop is open daily, and visitors can watch the baking process as they wait in line. Bagels include plain, garlic, and whole wheat.

SPREAD BAGELRY

Step into Spread Bagelry to enjoy Montreal-style bagels. Bakers from Eastern Europe brought their old-world recipes to Montreal in the early 1900s. They're now enjoyed in the United States and are a local favorite. The bagels soak in honey water before baking to perfection in wood-fired ovens. Choices include poppy, chocolate chip, and whole wheat everything.

If you're really hungry, try the Classic Whale Challenge. Competitors attempt to finish a fourteen-pound sandwich. Few diners have completed the mission, eating the sandwich made of a sesame bagel, tomatoes, cream cheese, and more.
